ROV Linear Actuator Test

I designed and built this linear actuator for Diablo Valley College’s entry in the 2019 MATE ROV Competition. I started with a rough sketch on the whiteboard, then created final blueprints in AutoCAD, and machined all the components in the school’s machine shop. The only stock components are the motor (300 RPM @ 12V DC gear motor) and a rubber shaft seal to keep the motor dry when operating underwater.
